Dean did extremely well on Saturday in The Somerset CC 10. We hit a full on cold wind on the return leg, the road was rough in places and there was a lot of traffic. He still posted an excellent time. Doc

The Wstern Gazette is having a week off from reporting about yours truly, but instead this Thursday's edition should carry some pics of the Awards Evening (remember that?) and a feature on Sir Dave Smith and his LeJog ambitions. Enjoy....

NEW CLUB CLOTHING HAS ARRIVED!!!!!!!!!

I've just had a delivery of our new kit from Kalas today, all nice and spangly!!!!!

I still need to work out final exact pricing. The plan is to hold a come and get it session probably at The George in Donyatt one evening next week.

If anyone who is RACING on Saturday would like to ride in the new strip at the weekend, please could you call round at Chateau Ellis between 6.30pm and 7.30pm on Thursday.

Senior and junior members qualify for a £20 discount on two different main items of clothing (jerseys, gilets, shorts).

After the come and get it night the clothing will be in Dave Keiller's capable hands

Anyone know if Andy Mapson is away? I can't raise him on the phone, and I need to back out of the 2 Up as my shoulder/chest is still in a bad way. Can't even get on the turbo, let alone race. I'll probably be out of action for several more weeks.

If he still wants to ride, is anyone up for teaming with him? Place all bought and paid for........

In a Dutch bar? - didn't think the skiing was that good in the Netherlands...
Yes, the french girl was rather unfortunate...( I bet the others had a job not to start giggling), hope I am not going to do something similarly embarrassing on Saturday during my first ever springtime pursuit...

Just sore and stiff now, but hopefully I'll be OK to ride on Sunday possibly even on Friday

Yes I did see the ladies downhill - live on Eurosport in a Dutch bar ! Some very good crahses - my favourite was the French lady straight out of the start gate; genius (-: Great to see our girl in 1st place for nearly 10 minutes!!

Hi Richard

Don't know whether you have been following the Olympics out there, but you are definitely in good company, the girls doing the downhill skiing were crashing one after the other and quite spectacularly at that!!! I said it was a bad idea to go skiing at the start of the cycling season, did I not.... Hope you are recovering ok though, maybe a little bit of Whey Protein would help...

Liebe Wiebke,

Despite your compeling hard sell, of what is obviously a premium product, I sadly must decline.....

Sorry to miss you this morning, but: 1. I only got back from the piste en France at 0100 today, and 2. I'm still recovering from a VERY heavy and rapid intermate relationship with the snow on a red run on Thursday! Luckily the French doctor's diagnosis of a suspected partially collapsed lung was wrong - only huge bruisng to put up with. Thankfully I was wearing a helmet, so the landing on my forehead didn't do too much damage to the nicely manacured ski slope. I got to go to French A&E in an ambulance with the lights an siren on though.....

Perhaps I should borrow Toby's staberlisers next time I go skiing?

We have recently made the mistake of buying a large tub of Holland and Barratt Natural Whey Protein and would rather pull out our toe-nails individually than drink that s..t, but rather than feeding it to the chickens (which is a thought, at least that way we´d get our protein in a tasty manner) we thought we´d offer it free to a good home...any takers?

Bearing in mind the weather forecast for the weekend, keep your eyes peeled for the ride going back an hour, and a different route if icy.

I will email Paul to circulate and put the new details on here. IF we change it...otherwise stays as is.

Hi Alan,

I was present when you won the 1961 Two Counties Road Race and rode in the Independent (Professional) Championship later in the year. As a schoolboy it left an everlasting impression in my mind. If you sent your e-mail address to history@cyclists.co.uk I will e-mail you copies of all the photos and Start/Result sheets relating to the two events.

Just found your web site and it bought back memory's. I won the Chard road race back in 1961 then the following year your club ran the national championships, i was chuffed to bits to be number one. i was also invited as guest of honour at your club dinner. Did anyone take photo's?
All the best and lets hope you all have a good year.

If you buy a recumbent, instead of a saddle for your DFB, you'll never get a sore bum again!
